The Cave of the Winds and Great Stone Face on the side of Mt. Mansfield, Green Mountains, Vermont
Green Mountain Studios, White River Junction, Vt.
Vermont's counterpart to New Hampshire's Old Man of the Mountain is shown on this postcard as a rough profile on the side of Mt. Mansfield, but is more commonly thought of as a much larger prone face like that of a sleeping giant, which follows the ridge of Mt. Mansfield from a forehead at the south to an oversized chin at the north. The Cave of the Winds is a 200-foot deep cleft in the mountain visible on the lower left of the cliff in the photo.
