South Forty Restaurant

The "Kountry Kitchen" opened in 1974 in a small cluster of adobe-finish buildings around a parking lot next to the Desert Mountain Trading Post and a motel. The shopping center was located just past the turnoff to several attractions west of Tucson including the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Saguaro National Park and Old Tucson Wild West park, making a convenient meeting place and refreshment stop for travelers.

The restaurant changed its name to "Desert Kitchen" in the early 1980s and later "Desert Patio". The name change to "South Forty" in 1987 lasted longer. Under the new name the restaurant hosted weekend musical acts and dancing for several years.

The restaurant closed around 2008 and the shopping center was demolished by the county shortly thereafter.
